When you want to add bling to your outfit, do you reach for gold earrings, gold necklaces, and, well — gold everything? If you love to rock that brassy metal in your wardrobe, it might be time you let it shine through in your makeup, too. This fall, when you’re ready to slip into a cozy cocoa-colored sweater, pull on metallic gold ankle boots, or bundle up in a scarf flecked with rust or copper, give your gold eye shadow a workout. Seasonal colors can easily mix and match to make your look pop.
How to Dazzle with Gold This Autumn
After applying foundation and a setting powder to your entire face, focus on your eyes.
- Use Cocoa-Colored Eyeliner. Try it on your upper lids, lower lids, or both. For flavor, line your top eyelid, then draw out an elongated, upward wing at the outer corner to create a cat-eye look.
- Apply Mascara. This will make your eyes look more dramatic — a perfect complement to those gold tones. Try a lash-extending formula or apply the makeup to a set of flirty falsies.
- Get Creative. Dive into your pot of gold eye shadow. You can swipe it evenly across both eyelids for a subtle, shimmery daytime look, or get glamorous and create a layered smoky eye using gold as a highlight color against cocoa and brown hues.
- Finish Simply. Let your eyes have all the fun. Finish with a fresh coat of lip gloss — go clear, or try a seasonal hue like plum, pomegranate, or cranberry — and skip the blush.
