It’s time to start thinking about back to school! Once you’ve found your new cosmetic cases and brush sets, it’s time to start thinking DIY! We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite “do-it-yourself” back to school ideas.
- Bookmarks: Keep your page marked in those textbooks in style by upcycling charms, pins, or broken jewelry. Attach ribbon clamp end crimps to jewelry with jump rings to ribbon or leftover fabric. Get the tutorial here. You can also glue jewelry pieces to paper clips for a smaller bookmarker.
- Book Cover: An easy, simple solution for keeping track of stray pens and papers if you don’t like carrying a pencil case is to turn a notebook into a stretchy covered book. Criss-cross a dozen or so small elastic bands over the cover of a book and voila! Or you can always go old school and cover books with upcycled paper grocery bags or newspaper.
- Scrap Book: Need a chic, upcycled way to keep track of your school memories? Make an envelope scrap book. Bonus points for using junk mail envelopes! Compact by Design shows you how to create a book full of envelopes perfect for stashing everything from receipts to tickets to the prom!
